The word “Systemic,” 55, of the American English language, passed quietly Tuesday after a brief but pointed memo from a state attorney general. A working adjective most of its life, Systemic is survived by the words “individual,” “personal responsibility,” and “a few bad apples,” all of whom were present at the bedside. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that mourners try to describe a pattern without it and report back on how that went.
